ENGLISH FOR SPEAKERS OF OTHER LANGUAGES (ESOL)

A City & Guilds/ Pitman Qualification. Recognised by the Home Office for Citizenship/ Residency applications (Entry 3 and above) and follow a Citizenship oriented syllabus
The course has 5 levels. Each level lasts 3 months start to finish. They are as follows:

City & Guilds levels Entry level Pitman Standard Common European Framework levels
Preliminary Entry 1 Basic A1 Breakthrough
Access Entry 2 Elementary A2 Waystage
Achiever Entry 3   B1 Threshold
Communicator Level 1 Intermediate B2 Vantage
Expert Level 2 Higher Intermediate C1 EOP

Classes cover all the basic elements of learning a language, speaking, reading, writing, listening, grammar and vocabulary. They involve accent training and awareness of international English usage too.

Classes are kept deliberately smaller to emphasise student – teacher interaction because we believe that this greatly improves the learning process, as the teacher can attend to individual student needs more effectively.

An initial assessment is performed prior to enrolment to determine each students level in all skills, the fee for which (£20) is deducted from the total fee.
